High 5 !

Party balloonsHappy birthday to us, happy birthday to us!

It’s just five years on 1 December since Williamsons opened its doors for the first time, following the departure of Michael Williamson and his team from what was then The Stokes Partnership. Half a decade later, we look back on what has been achieved during – and in spite of – five tough years in recession.

Originally, the firm occupied one of three suites within the town centre offices at the heart of Crewkerne.  It now occupies all three (with marvellous views from the top floor!)

Personnel numbers have also trebled as the firm has answered calls from clients old and new for a wider range of services. Williamsons opened as a contentious and commercial legal services provider with emphasis on commercial dispute resolution, employment and personal injury but there was soon demand for commercial property and corporate work on the one hand, wills and other personal legal work on the other.

Today, the firm offers a full range of services in commercial property, corporate commercial, wills and attorneyships, estate administration and related matters - alongside its original core capabilities.

To properly support a network of legal services delivered locally and afar the firm has constantly upgraded and extended its IT services giving high priority to accessibility and flexibility. Williamsons has established a presence on various social media platforms and legalchap’s blogs have proved increasingly popular!

WilliamsonsWilliamsons is committed to its corporate social responsibility both in the way that business is processed and promoted.  “Green” philosophy in reducing the firm’s carbon footprint by maximising the benefits of modern technology is mirrored in annual support for The Woodland Trust.

Williamsons are also proud to support the local community, becoming main sponsors of the Crewkerne Rugby Football Club Second XV this year and supporting a number of other local causes including the Quartz Festival in Taunton.

Slightly further afield, director Michael Williamson and others have been successful in raising money for the Somerset Headway Trust. The firm has also just completed a contribution to the Will Aid November, charitable fund raising effort.

Since August 2012 Williamsons has had held the coveted Lexcel quality mark from The Law Society certifying excellence in practice management and client handling standards.

We are hoping to build on this in the second five years – do it all again, and more – but in the meantime, let’s pause to celebrate the journey to date. Cheers!
