Accident claimant jailed for false claim

facebookA claimant who grossly exaggerated his injuries and claim for compensation following a motoring accident has been given a nine-month prison sentence for contempt of court.

The claims were investigated by the defendant, which used covert surveillance techniques that included video footage and accessing photos from Facebook to prove that the claimant's evidence to the court was untrue.
The case demonstrates the serious view that the courts will take of litigants who give false evidence and the determination of insurers to attack and expose claims they believe to be exaggerated.
