Copyright extension has musicians dancing in the street

Ageing musicians will be rockin' all over the world today following the decision of the EU Council to extend copyright protection on music from 50 years to 70 years after the work is recorded.

The ruling will see many ‘classic’ tracks by stars such as Cliff Richard, the Beatles and others remain with the record labels rather than becoming ‘free to use’.
The copyright on the composition itself will remain at 50 years.
