RIDDOR changes

Posted: 29th March 2012

Employers and others with responsibility under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 Warning Signsare reminded that the reporting requirements change on 6 April 2012.
From that date, a reportable incident will be one which causes incapacity of seven days or more instead of three days as at present. In the context of RIDDOR, incapacity means absence or the inability to carry out work that a person would reasonably be expected to do as part of their normal work.
In addition, the current requirement that a reportable incident is reported within 7 days is being relaxed. From 6 April, the deadline will be 15 days after the incident.
For injuries that involve shorter absences, a record in the accident book will be sufficient.
