Mobile advertisements - planning permission

Posted: 12th October 2011

Landowners are reminded that the placing of a mobile advertisement in a field or other space next to a road may well need planning permission.

There is a widespread belief that the provisions in the Town and Country (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 2007 (SI2007/83) that exempt temporary advertisements and those on vehicles from the need for planning consent apply to all wheeled advertisements.
This is not the case. Mobile advertising hoardings and billboards are caught by the regulation that requires consent for positioning a vehicle which is primarily used for advertising purposes.
